When Sara reached out to me for her maternity session she originally just wanted a studio maternity and picked out one of my dresses that would look great in studio. She was still picking a multi-dress package so I thought we should try doing at least one half at white sands. She agreed to do part of her session at White Sands as long as we did some in studio. In studio we do have more control over the lighting, the wind and other weather so I can get that. For her second dress she agreed to use the rainbow dress that I had recently picked up and she was carrying a Rainbow baby.
For those that are unfamiliar with the term rainbow baby it can be explained as the following:
A rainbow baby is a name coined for a healthy baby born after losing a baby due to miscarriage, infant loss, stillbirth, or neonatal death.
The name “rainbow baby” comes from the idea of a rainbow appearing in the sky after a storm, or after a dark and turbulent time. The term has gained popularity on blogs and social media in recent years, and has come to symbolize hope and healing.
This dress has such an amazing pastel rainbow train that I just felt that shooting this in studio wouldn't do it justice. We had a bit of an overcast this day and we had quite a bit of wind as well. The wind actually helped the dresses long train flow and to allow me to get some of these amazing shots.
That's enough long distances shots time to get in close on this gorgeous mama. She is just glowing.
Hubby came in for a few shots and grabbed her and gave her a kiss. The passion he has for his wife just had me going whooo!!
The second part of her maternity session was done in studio and she picked out this olive velvet dress. Paired with a few accessories and this mamma was rocking this gown.
This couple is looking forward to their new bundle of joy and I'm happy to say I'm looking forward to shooting the newborn session as well. This child will be well loved.
