"Rainbow Babies" is the understanding that the beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of the storm. When a rainbow appears, it doesn't mean the storm never happened or that the family is not still dealing with its aftermath. What it means is that something beautiful and full of light has appeared in the midst of the darkness and clouds. Storm clouds may still hover but the rainbow provides a counterbalance of color, energy and hope.
I had done previous rainbow baby newborn sessions and used my typical style of bold colors. This mama request softer pastel colors so I did some shopping for this special little baby. First I purchased a brand new mohair pastel rainbow wrap and located a special rainbow headband as well.
I then got some fabric and flowers in the pastel colors and created this ensemble which wrapped nicely around this basket. Mama had show me a similar picture to this to show the types of colors she was looking for and I was able to recreate the scene.
